Posted by: | CommentsWell after all the hype about the film Avatar, I must say that it was one of the few films that I’ve seen that did not disappoint.
I went to see it with my wife and we were both blown away. The World ‘Pandora’ was the setting and the indigenous population, were those who were very much at one with their environment. They lived in such harmony with the surroundings and respecting nature and each other that it portrays a peaceful oasis that seems unreal.
It is no wonder when in contrast with our own World, with the violence and negativity that we get bombarded with on a daily basis that many people few a bit despondent after watching the film. There has been reported in the Press and online forums, people becoming depressed after watching the movie as they really want to live on the World Pandora and be a Navi, to live in a different way.
It’s a great film and one I think brings hope to people and opens their eyes to what can be (in the movies anyway) and for me more importantly, it gives people a glimpse of what they would like and takes them away from the materialistic life most people lead.
In actual fact, there are probably still a few indigenous populations remaining who still live pretty much how the Navi people live, the tribes of the Amazon forest, the native Indians of America. But no doubt, these cultures are slowly dying out and being driven out by the ‘developing’ Worlds in the name of ‘progress’.
It almost seems ironic, that real true progress is to honour the ways of the old, respecting nature, our environment and each other as human beings. This is what governments are striving for are they not? Strange that to try and ‘progress’ Society and to save the human race we are moving away from doing what needs to be done. Just my own thoughts!
Miracles – An Introduction
Posted by: | CommentsWell, I’ve read the first few pages of ‘A Course in Miracles’. Wow, I must say that I’m not really sure that I understood much of what I read. It was only yesterday that I read it and I guess I can summerize what is left in my mind.
Well the topic was about ‘miracles’. When it spoke of miracles I understood that it was talking about the subject on many different levels. The main thing was that miracles is in essence the act of love and in a sense, is love itself. Or another way to see it is that a miracle is love expressed. By extrapolating this further, we could say that each of us is ‘pure love’ and thus we are each and everyone of us a ‘miracle’.
A miracle is love. By expressing love to one another and in showing love to ones ‘neightbour’ is to perform a miracle unto others.
Well, that’s about all I can remember and not really sure if I got the gist of it but this is my understanding. If things continue this way, then it will be a very tough journey for me! I will persevere and see how I get on with other parts of the course!
Welcome to the Year 2010
Posted by: | CommentsWho would believe it is 2010!
Looking back on the past decade, it’s been quite amazing at all the things that have not only happened in my own life but around the World as well. Certainly on the one hand, time seems to pass so quickly, yet so much happens within that time.
As we enter 2010, I am often reminded of those who believe that the year will be quite a big one for many people. The Year 2010 is supposed to be important in terms of numerology, but it also takes us closer to the exciting and uncertainty of the Year 2012, a year of great change and increased consciousness around the planet. There are many theories about what may happen in 2012 but lets focus on the Now and understand that there is a great deal of living to do before we get there!
Of late I’ve not really taken time out for myself, to slow down and take time out from the chaos of life. This is one of the things that I have made a commitment to do this year and one that I’ve intend to keep. Though the year has already started and New Year seems so far away, it is already quite busy. One of my strategies is to take time out each day to meditate and visualise all of my goals for the coming year. I also aim to go through ‘A Course in Miracles’ and to post my thoughts and reflections on each part that I read. A Course in Miracles is a well-known spiritual book and one that I bought many months ago with good intentions, but it has just sat on the bookshelf all this time.
To start things off, we watched ‘The Secret’ again just to remind ourselves on the teachings of the Law of Attraction and its a great thing to do every now and then. I find watching such DVD’s, reading books and chatting to like-minded friends a great way to energize myself and keep myself on track to mainting a healthy perspective on things.
Before I forget, that is something else that I’m planning on doing. To get all my like-minded friends together every month or two and have a good catch-up. It’s something we’ve done before and I find the energy really great and I feel really motivated afterwards. So bring on 2010!
