My websites & Theta Session 2

Posted by: Waiman | Comments (0)

It’s been a while since I last posted. It sometimes feels as if I always say that when I post! Anyway, I haven’t been idle. For one, I’ve been working hard at devloping my websites. I have worked very hard and very long hours in my spare time to get everything completed as soon as I could as they form part of my future plans.

Both sites are related to the wedding industry and it is something that I got interested in after our own wedding last year. The first site Wedding Favours Delight sells wedding favours and favour boxes. They are really cool and interestingly enough, my suppliers are actually from my home town in the Midlands! My other site is selling wedding dress boxes for storing wedding dresses in an acid-free environment. These are cool and will certainly help people keep their wedding dresses preserved for much longer than if they just put them into a plastic bag and in the attic. My main activity now related to this is just marketing the sites which will just take some time.

On the spiritual side of things, I’ve only just had another theta healing session. This was an interesting one and though there wasn’t lots to work on, the issue of security came up in terms of being able to follow my dreams and not feel too worried financially etc. We worked on clearing these issues and I certainly felt very much clearer and confident about my plans afterwards.

During the session, I also wanted to work on improving my intuition and ability to listen to my higher self, spirit guides, angels etc. We worked on some exercises where I had to ’see’ my guides and describe them. It was all very interesting and I discovered that I had an angel guide and another animal guide which I described. It was a bit strange as I tended to overanalyze things and found it difficult to let go and trust in what came through to my mind. I believe in this stuff, that’s why I worked on it but found it difficult to let go. It was all very subtle and most of the time felt as if I was talking to myself in my mind but I think that is how it works until things become clearer. I will practice now with the exercises that we worked through and to try to improve my intuitive ability and trust. Perhaps I’m going nuts, but I enjoy doing it as it is quite relaxing so I’ll keep it up.

On the social side of things, I’m getting better and making time to go out and meet with friends which has been great fun. No doubt there will be plenty more of this to come with the festive season fast approaching!

Wordpress or Zencart eCommerce

Posted by: Waiman | Comments (0)

Right now I’m in the process of planning my next and final ecommerce website for this year! I know what I will be selling and have some suppliers. I just need to decide on the actual ecommerce platform.

For all of my previous stores, I’ve used zencart. It’s something I’m quite familar with since I’ve used it with a few stores and know it works. However, I’ve recently been getting into using wordpress to develop websites. There are a few ok looking plugins for wordpress to give it some ecommerce functionality. However, it is first and foremost a blogging platform.

I’m only considering using wordpress because I think it is a great piece of software and generally think it looks great in terms of presentation. The ecommerce plugins are quite lightweight when compared with a specialist cart like zencart but I’m very much tempted to try wordpress out.

My dilemma is that I do not want to spend weeks developing the wordpress store only to find that it cannot do something that I need it to or that it doesn’t really work that well! As I write this I’m starting to think that I should perhaps play safe ad use zencart! Hmmm, the choices!

With regards to the wordpress ecommerce plugins, I’m looking at Shopp and wp-ecommerce. I will chew on it a bit more and then decide I think. The more I think about it, the more I am leaning on zencart again. But there is the other side of me who would love to try something different. I’ll post back here when I have decided.

Websites

Posted by: Waiman | Comments (0)

At the moment I am working at completing my web projects so I can then focus on marketing them for the remainder of the year. I am working at redesigning an existing website using Wordpress. Wordpress is a free blogging software and very customizable to look like any other website. The great advantage is that it is loved by search engines due to its structure.

I will post the website here when it is completed. This particular one that I’m transferring over should be completed over the next few days.

I then have one last site that I want to develop and has been in the pipeline for the past few weeks in terms of planning. It is another ecommerce site and I that will probably take me about 4-6 weeks to complete. Once done, I will again post it up for people to see.

Apart from that, I’m starting to get into mountain biking and adventure racing. It’s basically orienteering over 3 disciplines, kayaking, trail running and mountain biking. It’s great fun and I have some events coming up soon. In the meantime, I’m doing what training I can in the time I have available. Basically, not much at all!

This weekend I have a mountain bike orienteering event over 3 hours and the aim is to get as many points as possible over that time. Will post more when I’ve done it.

Update

Posted by: Waiman | Comments (0)

Again its been a while since I last posted but things are busy in life!

Generally all is well and I’m very busy with a load of personal projects. I have a game plan for the next 6 months and hopefully things will go well and the plan run on schedule. Yes, it is all a bit ‘undercover’ as I am not really giving much away, but suffice to say that I am very busy in what spare time I have doing things.

You see, my wife and I have an idea and quite a clear picture of the lifestyle that we would like to live. We are currently putting things in place to try and make this become a reality. My wife has already taken steps and is a lot closer to doing what she wants to do. I must say that she is so much the happier for it.

For me, I’m plodding away doing what I can so come the 6 month mark, I wuld hopefully be well underway to reaching my goal.

More updates as they come.

New Year, New Start

Posted by: Waiman | Comments (0)

So, we are well in to the New Year of 2009 and things are already busy!

I’m currently off work at the moment as we got married in December and are going on honeymoon this week. Our trip is to Norway to see the Northern Lights, hopefully, that’s the plan anyway. It is a 5 day cruise with a day in Tromso, Norway before we fly back.

It’s great to have so much time away from work as it kind of gives me a taste of what retirement must feel like! Yep, no more having to get up ridiculously early before the sun rises and groaning about the week to come. It’s a nice feeling and has given me time to do all my other stuff and also some insights.

Certainly it is great having time off work but it is a temporary thing. After a couple of weeks I will be back at work. Though I am enjoying it, it has made me realise that it is very important to have some sort of purpose in life, whether it is work or otherwise. I can see how one can actually get quite bored and unproductive with their time.

Not for me though, I’ve got a list of personal projects. Not least of them is setting up an Internet business of sorts. I have a 6 month plan and at the moment with a lot of the free time that I have, I’m going crazy working on it and using my time as productively as possible. It has been very good and I’ve come a long way in a few short days.

Everything so far is ahead of schedule and it will just take some time to see the results and outcome. In the meantime there are lots of tweaking to continue with. I read a book loaned to me called ‘The 4 Hour Week’ by Tim Ferris. This is a guy who is trying to live his life by working no more than 4 hours per week. In doing so, he has lots of free time to pursue all of his other interest. It’s a great concept and a key component of it is outsourcing a lot of the work to other people (freelancers). I’ve taken this advice on board and have outsourced some stuff to people.

It does cost money but I can tell you I have completed something is about 3-4 days what would have taken me about a month or so! Anyhow, I will provide more updates as I progress.
