New Year, New Start
BySo, we are well in to the New Year of 2009 and things are already busy!
I’m currently off work at the moment as we got married in December and are going on honeymoon this week. Our trip is to Norway to see the Northern Lights, hopefully, that’s the plan anyway. It is a 5 day cruise with a day in Tromso, Norway before we fly back.
It’s great to have so much time away from work as it kind of gives me a taste of what retirement must feel like! Yep, no more having to get up ridiculously early before the sun rises and groaning about the week to come. It’s a nice feeling and has given me time to do all my other stuff and also some insights.
Certainly it is great having time off work but it is a temporary thing. After a couple of weeks I will be back at work. Though I am enjoying it, it has made me realise that it is very important to have some sort of purpose in life, whether it is work or otherwise. I can see how one can actually get quite bored and unproductive with their time.
Not for me though, I’ve got a list of personal projects. Not least of them is setting up an Internet business of sorts. I have a 6 month plan and at the moment with a lot of the free time that I have, I’m going crazy working on it and using my time as productively as possible. It has been very good and I’ve come a long way in a few short days.
Everything so far is ahead of schedule and it will just take some time to see the results and outcome. In the meantime there are lots of tweaking to continue with. I read a book loaned to me called ‘The 4 Hour Week’ by Tim Ferris. This is a guy who is trying to live his life by working no more than 4 hours per week. In doing so, he has lots of free time to pursue all of his other interest. It’s a great concept and a key component of it is outsourcing a lot of the work to other people (freelancers). I’ve taken this advice on board and have outsourced some stuff to people.
It does cost money but I can tell you I have completed something is about 3-4 days what would have taken me about a month or so! Anyhow, I will provide more updates as I progress.
